3 Ingredient Date Bites

These chocolate covered dates filled with peanut butter are super simple to make and have on hand for a quick sweet treat. A perfect sweet and salty combo!

What You’ll Need:

  • Pitted dates

  • Natural peanut butter

  • Dark chocolate

Instructions:

  1. Remove pit from dates if not already pitted

  2. On a plate, open the dates up just enough to where it won’t tear in two

  3. Add peanut butter to each date (option: you can add peanuts or almonds for a crunch!)

  4. Melt chocolate using a microwave-safe bowl in 30 second increments, stirring the chocolate each time until melted (I love dark, but you can use milk chocolate if you prefer!)

  5. Drizzle melted chocolate over the peanut butter filled dates

  6. Sprinkle with a salt if you wish!

  7. Place into freezer for 10-15 minutes or until chocolate has hardened

  8. Enjoy immediately or store for later!

Notes:

  • After freezing, I’ll store the date bites in a bag or container and keep in the freezer!

Nutritional Benefits:

Dates are rich in natural sugars, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. They are a sweet alternative to refined sugars and can used in a variety of recipes like smoothies, sauces, oatmeal, energy balls, cookies, and brownies.

The fiber content in dates can play a role in supporting a healthy digestion system and heart by reducing LDL “bad” cholesterol levels. As well as being high in antioxidants — flavonoids, carotenoids, and phenolic acids, which have been studied for their anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and brain-protective properties.

Dates are also a great pre-workout snack due to its quick release, natural occurring sugars. Combine them with peanut butter for some protein and feel-good fats to help keep you full and give you sustaining energy!
